Description

When the M.C.C side to tour the West Indies was selected in the late autumn of 1967, the major controversy over its composition was the fact that Brian Close of Yorkshire C.C.C. had been deposed as England’s captain. As a result of this decision, which followed soon after an enquiry into Close’s delaying tactics in a vital county match against Warwickshire, the storm broke. In the press and on radio and television the main cricketing topic was-had Close been harshly treated.
