Tony Pawson’s lifetime in sport has been rich in experiences and personalities at the highest level,wether as participant or reporter. He is one of the very few men in the last fifty years to have played as an amateur both first division soccer and county cricket to representative level. He has recently added a “cap” in his third sport-fly-fishing. For twenty-eight years he has written about cricket and football for the Observer and in 1979 was elected Chairman of the Cricketer Writers” Club.
